Research is one of the components that make us unique at the Baptist Heart & Vascular Institute.  Our highly trained staff is dedicated to providing the latest innovations and newest therapies in a community-based setting.  Baptist Health Lexington is working to improve the lives of our patients with heart and vascular disease.

Below is a listing of current cardiac clinical trials:

IRB 1065 ILUMIEN I Study:
Observational Study of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in Patients Undergoing Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)

Purpose:  To define and evaluate OCT stent guidance parameters through prospective data collection in PCI procedures of de novo lesions

Eligibility:  Patients with indication for PCI


IRB 1110 ABSORB III Study:
Clinical Evaluation of Absorb ™BVS, the Everolimus Eluting Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold in the Treatment of Subjects with de Novo Native Coronary Artery Lesions

Purpose:  To assess the safety and effectiveness of treating blockages in the coronary arteries with the Absorb™ Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold System compared to the XIENCE Stent Systems.

Eligibility:  Patients with evidence of myocardial ischemia that are suitable for elective PCI
